Create Space and Order in a Hurry

Create Space and Order in a Hurry

You can create space and order very quickly by tossing the small things that pile up and create clutter. Go through your house and get rid of these clutter makers:

• Junk mail – throw it out as quickly as you can. Don’t keep something that’s useless and annoys you every time you see it.

• Envelopes – Unless you need the return address, toss all incoming envelopes. Putting stuff back into the envelope, then taking it out to do something with it, takes a lot of time and effort. Clip return envelopes to the paper if you will need them. Your files won’t be as full if you discard the envelopes.

• Plastic food containers – decide how many you need to keep on hand and recycle the rest. Don’t clutter your kitchen with things you don’t use.

• Twist ties and bread tabs – they will quickly take over a drawer. Decide how many you need to keep on hand and toss the rest. Don’t clutter your kitchen with things you don’t use.

• Pens that don’t work – they are useless and annoying. Toss them immediately.

• Magazines, professional journals, newsletters, catalogs and newspapers – periodicals multiply like rabbits. If you put two of them together, soon you’ll have another one. Decide on a reasonable amount of time to read the periodical and recycle anything before that. Subscribe to online versions that are usually easier to search if you need specific information. If you don’t have time to read it now, when will you have the time to read it plus all the ones you still haven’t read?
