Number twelve in a continuing series. The name has been changed from “Amanda vs. a Professional Organizer,” to “Nikki Works With a Professional Organizer.”   Nikki’s neat freak friend, Amanda, as chronicled in earlier posts, has been offering to get her organized for months.  Nikki has not welcomed Amanda’s help and has decided to work with a Professional Organizer.

Nikki realizes she needs a professional to help with her clutter.  She is ready to make changes in her lifestyle and get rid of some of the stuff that has been holding her back.  Now she has to find a Professional Organizer to assist her.  Nikki’s best bet for finding the right person is to go to the internet.  Directories of Professional Organizers are maintained by several industry groups:

The Professional Organizers of New Mexico (PONM) website, www.nmorganizer.com, not only has information on local NAPO members, but also group activities.  PONM members have written an e-book that can be downloaded for free.

The Institute for Challenging Disorganization (ICD) directory at www.challengingdisorganization.org will help Nikki find a Professional Organizer that has invested in continuing education.  ICD members can advance through levels of certification by participating in an exacting course of study.  Listings on this site include the certifications earned.  Professional Organizers at levels three through five are required to pursue continuing education.

Professional Organizers who have been credentialed as a Certified Professional Organizer® (CPO®) are shown on the Board of Certification for Professional Organizers website, http://certifiedprofessionalorganizers.org.  These professionals have met experience requirements and passed a rigorous examination to earn this prestigious designation.  Continuing education is required to maintain CPO® status.

The National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) website, www.napo.net, lists member Professional Organizers who have been in business at least one year.

Faithful Organizers®, http://www.faithfulorganizers.com, maintains a list of Christian Professional Organizers.
